Cumberland Area                                Investment Corporation

The Cumberland Area Investment Corporation (CAIC) provides permanent jobs in the region by encouraging small business growth through a low interest loan program. The CAIC is a private-public partnership between regional banks and communities using public and private dollars to assist regional business expansion and start-up.

Using monies provided by the Rural Development Administration, the Economic Development Administration, the Tennessee Growth Fund, and the Community Development Block Grant programs, the CAIC leverages private capital from area lending institutions. The CAIC is able to provide low rate, fixed term financing for area businesses. To date the CAIC has made some 141 loans totaling $16.7 million. Private lenders have contributed approximately three times that amount. This has resulted in creation or retaining some 6,333 permanent jobs in the area.

During last year, the Cumberland Area Investment Corporation has approved loans totaling $1,250,000.00 in the Upper Cumberland counties.
